Program Rules
Governor Rounds, the Department of Agriculture and the Governor's Office of Economic Development are working on the finalization of the emergency Administrative Rules that will provide the legal foundation for both the production and processing components of the SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ Beef Program. The goal deadline for completion is May 2005.
Once the Rules have been finalized a public hearing date will be established. This hearing will be publicized in regional newspapers across the state. The general public is encouraged to attend and offer comment. The Rules will take effect 20 days after the public hearing. Official education, enrollment, inspection and licensing of producers and processors will begin immediately thereafter.
