PIERRE, SD - Jamboree Foods of Freeman recently joined a growing number of grocery stores and restaurants that are carrying SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ Beef, according to Richard Benda, Secretary, Department of Tourism and State Development.
“We continue to see interest in this program and are pleased to see another South Dakota company carry this product,” Benda said. He noted that 31 locations in the state are currently carrying SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ Beef and approximately 150 producers are involved in the program.
Jamboree Foods started carrying SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ after it was contacted by a SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ Beef marketer. “Marshall John’s Beef approached me and suggested we start carrying the beef,” said Bob Pidde, manager of Jamboree Foods. “We are proud to offer SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ Beef to consumers in our area. We believe it is an excellent product that also promotes South Dakota.” Jamboree Foods carries ground beef, flat iron steaks, and sirloin steaks.
SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ Beef is the vision of Governor Mike Rounds and part of the 2010 Initiative. “A set of strict requirements has been set forth for this program,” Benda said. “Following these guidelines ensures a high quality product.”
