Work began on the SOUTH DAKOTA CERTIFIED™ ENROLLED CATTLE Program during the fall of 2003. Cattle production and management standards were established with particular emphasis on traceability, credibility and quality.
Cattle producers were offered a preliminary view of the program during the Governor's Beef Summit in July 2004. The South Dakota Department of Agriculture promotes program participation through state-wide producer education and training sessions.
